I worked with co-curator Jeni Walwin to bring the work of leading contemporary artists to WOMAD's UK festival at Charlton Park, a new departure for this major world music festival. We were responsible for selecting the artists and their work, devising an appropriate medium for the presentation of the work, and managing all aspects of the installation and delivery of the programme.
Moving Portraits consisted of six sea containers which acted as viewing stations for a programme of artists' films. The artists were chosen from among those leading the field in this medium, all with national and international reputations. The selected films and videos reflected different approaches to portraiture in film, in part inspired by WOMAD's aim of celebrating cultural diversity. The Moving Portraits programme was:
- Jananne Al Ani - The Guide and Flock
- Dryden Goodwin - Flight and Reveal
- Melanie Manchot - Celebration (Cyprus Street)
- Rosalind Nashashibi - Hreash House
- Imogen Stidworthy - 7am
- Matt Stokes - Cipher
